Roger Maxwell reports: -
Urenui’s Tui Maxwell Memorial Tournament had a changed format again this year. Inclement weather on scheduled golf days forced the amalgamation of two Tournaments.
Essentially, it was a Lefty-Righty Tournament, with all players competing for the same prize pool. The top Lefty prize winners in each division were presented with handcrafted Tui Trophies.
The limited number of Lefties also received a complimentary pack, including a voucher and a monogrammed ball.
The field was limited to 60 players. The mass start, which is becoming popular, assisted the smooth running of the day as it brings everyone to the clubhouse about the same time.
Despite unfavourable forecasts, the weather turned out fine and mild for the two days.
Alternative dates are being explored for next year so that it does not clash with other Lefty events
